District Funding

How the District Gets Funded

The Flood Control Zone District (FCZD) is a special purpose junior taxing district. Funding for the FCZD comes from a county-wide property levy of $.10 per $1,000 assessed value. The levy raises approximately $8 million a year. Many flood projects will also rely on state and federal funding for completion.

The Flood Control Zone District’s budget covers funding for capital projects, maintenance of levies and other existing flood related infrastructure, the opportunity fund for local projects, as well as the district’s administrative costs.
